On the eve of the 2020 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon, the venues for the next five years of the prestigious championship were announced.
The first of those venues will be Carnoustie in 2021, and accompanying this announcement came the news that tickets are now on sale for the championship that will run from August 19-22.
This year's champion, Sophia Popov, made her debut in the event at Carnoustie in 2011, and is thrilled to be heading back again a decade later as the AIG Women’s Open champion.
“Honestly I can't wait for next year,” she said. “I love Carnoustie. It's an incredible course. Carnoustie was the site of my first Women's Open, so I have great memories there playing as an amateur and I love that place. So it really doesn't get any better than that.”
“I'm excited to go back and defend my title next year, but I really don't want to give this trophy away, so I'm going to do everything in my power to keep it.”
