Anna Nordqvist

Anna Nordqvist with the AIG Women

Defends the title she won so magnificently at Carnoustie last August. Five behind at halfway, a sparkling Saturday 65 gave her a share of the lead with Nanna Koerstz Madsen and they were still level with a hole to play, but Nordqvist’s par to Madsen’s double bogey brought a third major victory by one stroke.

Her first success at the 2009 PGA Championship came in only her fifth start on the LPGA Tour and then, a year after losing a US Women's Open play-off to Brittany Lang, she lifted the 2017 Evian Championship after more sudden death drama against Brittany Altomare. Now has nine LPGA Tour wins and seven Solheim Cup caps – four of them victories. All this after partnering Caroline Hedwall and Pernilla Lindberg to a 12-shot triumph at the 2008 Espirito Santo world amateur team championship in Australia, with Hedwall and Nordqvist first and second individually.
