The AIG Women’s Open is back at Royal Lytham & St Annes - the setting for some of the most memorable moments in the Championship’s history - for its landmark 50th edition in 2026.
The venue has staged the Championship five times with no shortage of sporting drama along the way. A host of the game’s biggest names have brought their A-game to the legendary Lancashire links down the years.
It witnessed Georgia Hall’s famous victory, the last by an English player, in 2018. It saw memorable wins for Catriona Matthew and Annika Sörenstam. And it was where Sherri Steinhauer lifted the trophy in 1998 – and then reclaimed it eight years later.
Miyu Yamashita will arrive as reigning champion, and another thrilling week is guaranteed as the world’s best players compete to add their own name to the AIG Women’s Open trophy.
The Championship will run from Thursday 29 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, at Royal Lytham & St Annes, Lancashire.
Information on the players who’ll be competing, along with the exemptions and different qualifying routes open to golfers, will be available in due course, with the world class field to be confirmed ahead of the Championship.
In addition to five editions of the AIG Women’s Open, the venue – regarded as one of the world’s best links courses - has also hosted The Open 11 times, the Ryder Cup twice, The Amateur Championship, the Senior Open and the Walker Cup.
There’s nothing quite like seeing the world’s best when they’re in the zone and competing at the top of their game.
