Matilda Castren

Matilda Castren became the first Finnish player to win on the LPGA Tour when she triumphed in the Mediheal Championship in July 2021.

It came in her rookie season and on only her 15th start on the circuit, but a month later she was a Ladies European Tour winner too and her three-stroke success on home soil at the Gant Open enabled the former Florida State University student to earn membership and become eligible for the Solheim Cup.

As one of Catriona Matthew’s six wild card selections she won twice with Anna Nordqvist and then beat Lizette Salas with a 12-foot putt on the final green to keep the trophy in Europe’s hands.
