Nelly Korda

Already an established superstar in the women's game prior to 2024, world number one Korda has taken her game to new heights with a staggering run of successes.

Victory in April's Chevron Championship not only secured a second major title - to go with her win in the 2021 KPMG PGA Championship - but also represented a record-equalling fifth LPGA Tour title in as many starts for the 25-year-old American.

Korda went into the year's first major having strung together consecutive triumphs at the LPGA Drive On Championship, Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, Ford Championship presented by KCC and T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards. She then stormed to victory at the Chevron Championship, carding four sub-70 rounds to finish two clear of Maja Stark on 13-under.

Korda has joined Nancy Lopez and Annika Sorenstam as the only players since 1978 to win in five successive LPGA Tour starts, while her tally of career LPGA wins now stands at 13.

Nelly joined her older sister Jessica on the LPGA Tour in 2017 and four years later reached world number one alongside achieving her first major victory at the KPMG PGA Championship. That included a second-round 63 and six weeks later she became an Olympic gold medallist in Tokyo, thanks in part to a second-round 62 that included a double-bogey on the final hole.

She missed a large portion of the early 2022 season with a blood clot in her arm, but managed to overcome the health scare and win on both the LPGA and Ladies European Tours before the end of the year.

Her father Petr was a highly successful tennis player, winning the Australian Open as well as reaching the French Open final, while younger brother Sebastian is also a rising star on the ATP Tour.
