Rose Zhang

In her second AIG Women's Open appearance at Muirfield in 2022, Zhang finished in a tie for 28th to take home the Smyth Salver and add another achievement to an historic amateur career.

Zhang, who had come close to making the cut on her debut at Carnoustie 12 months earlier, turned professional in May having surpassed Leona Maguire's record for the longest spell at the top of the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Incredibly, she then won on her first professional start, beating Jennifer Kupcho in a play-off at the LPGA's Mizuho Americas Open.

She had already competed in the US Women's Open at the age of 16 and finished 11th in the ANA Inspiration, while this May she became the first woman to win the NCAA college championship twice, a month on from claiming victory in the Augusta National Women's Amateur.

Like Tiger Woods and Michelle Wie before her, she has studied at Stanford University. Zhang has also been on two winning Curtis and Junior Solheim Cup teams as well as the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup.
