Debbie Massey with the AIG Women

Not content with becoming the first American Champion of the AIG Women's Open in 1980, Massey successfully defended her crown the following year.

To this date, she remains one of only three players - along with Sherri Steinhauer and Yani Tseng - to have won back-to-back AIG Women's Open titles.

Her first success came at Wentworth, where a closing 72 proved just enough to edge out Marta Figueras-Dotti and Scottish amateur Belle Robertson.

Twelve months later at Northumberland, Robertson again had to settle for second as Massey won by four strokes with a one-under aggregate, despite a third-round 81.

Massey was also fifth at Royal Birkdale in 1982, while the first of her three LPGA Tour wins came in 1977, the year she earned Rookie of the Year honours on the circuit.
