The R&A underlined its commitment to enhancing the AIG Women’s Open’s status as a leading major sporting event by announcing world-class venues for the Championships being played in 2026 and 2027.
Over the next two years, the Championship will be played at Royal Lytham & St Annes [2026] and Royal St George's [2027].
England’s Georgia Hall reigned supreme the last time the AIG Women’s Open was staged at Royal Lytham & St Annes, in 2018.
A first home success since Catriona Matthew in 2009, this victory was made all the more special because Georgia’s dad Wayne was her caddie for the week.
A fantastic five-under-par final round helped Georgia finish two shots clear of Thailand’s Pornanong Phatlum to earn her a first major title.
Other notable winners at Royal Lytham include Annika Sörenstam [2003] and three-time winner Sherri Steinhauer [1998, 2006].
Meanwhile, the Championship will visit Royal St George's for the first time, from 28 July to 1 August 2027.
