In September the Mexican star continued a trend of winning on the LPGA in two year increments, adding to her wins in the 2018 Blue Bay tournament and the 2020 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions with victory in the 2022 Dana Open, courtesy of a final round 63 to win by one.
Her first two victories were also thrillers – she edged Ariya Jutanugarn by one and then won a six-hole play-off against Inbee Park and Nasa Hataoka. Lopez's best major finish was a tie for ninth in the 2020 PGA Championship. Twice represented Mexico in the Espirito Santo world amateur team championship.
Played college golf at the University of Arkansas and in 2015 was a runner-up in the NCAA individual championship, alongside Leona Maguire and one behind Emma Talley. Like Talley, has now earned an exemption to Muirfield from this season’s play on the LPGA Tour.
