Hannah Green

No Australian woman had won a major title since Karrie Webb in 2006 when Hannah Green arrived for the Women’s PGA Championship in 2019.

Green led outright after each of the four rounds and lifted the trophy by a one-stroke margin over defending champion Sung Hyun Park. It was her first LPGA Tour success.

Webb was staying with her during the week and said: “I feel like I won today I’m so excited for her”, while the new champion admitted she had never felt more nervous than over the closing five-foot putt she made to clinch victory.

“I’ve always wanted to win an event and to win a major as my first is crazy.”

She had to wait less than three months for her second LPGA Tour win and added a third victory in the shape of the JM Eagle LA Championship in April 2023.

Green tied for fifth at the Tokyo Olympics, four shots behind winner Nelly Korda.
