Jess Baker

Earned her place in June by capturing the Women’s Amateur Championship at Hunstanton on the north Norfolk coast.

Ranked a lowly 518th on the amateur world rankings and still only 19 at the time, but overcame Curtis Cup player Hannah Darling – 16th on the list – 2&1 in the semi-finals and then Sweden’s Louise Rydqvist 4&3 in the 36-hole final.

Was a quarter-finalist in the same event at Kilmarnock (Barassie) last year and reached the last four of the 2019 English Amateur. Plays at Gosforth Park near Newcastle-upon-Tyne and has just finished her second year of a sports psychology course at the University of Central Florida.

Father Steve caddied for her as she won and she was watched not only by other members of her family, but also dog Gunner.
