Laura Davies

Laura Davies has been a professional since 1985 and in 2014 was made a Dame for her services to the sport.

She was only 22 when she won the AIG Women’s Open by four strokes at Royal Birkdale before it was awarded major status and lifted the US Women's Open a year later when not even a member of the LPGA Tour. Davies tied with JoAnne Carner and Ayako Okamoto before beating them in an 18-hole play-off.

She has since taken her total of worldwide professional victories to 87, including three more majors, and made the halfway cut at Carnoustie at the age of 57 in 2021.

Davies represented Europe in the first 12 Solheim Cup matches, her final appearance in 2011 coming just before her 48th birthday. That week saw her become the most successful player in the event’s history with 25 points, helping Alison Nicholas’s side to a 15-13 win.
