Mao Saigo's first major triumph came at the 2025 Chevron Championship after a dramatic five-way play-off.
The 23-year-old reached 7-under-par with a birdie on the 18th hole to earn her play-off place, and carded another birdie on the first extra hole to secure the biggest win of her career.
Along with being Mao's first career major, the triumph was also her first win in the United States.
She was named LPGA Tour Rookie of The Year in 2024 after a season which saw her finish runner-up at both the CPKC Women’s Open and Buick LPGA Shanghai, recording seven top-10 finishes.
Mao has won six times on the LPGA of Japan Tour – with the first five arriving in 12 stunning weeks between March and May 2022, alongside two second-place finishes.
This incredible run catapulted her into the world’s top 20.
Mao finished T36 on her first appearance at the AIG Women's Open, at Walton Heath in 2023, before an impressive T7 placing at St Andrews 12 months later. She finished T11 at Royal Porthcawl in 2025.
