Michele Thomson AIG Women

Finished just ahead of South African Casandra Alexander for the last of the five exempt places offered off this season’s Ladies European Tour order of merit at the cut-off point on July 11.

Winner of the 2008 Scottish Amateur title, she represented Britain and Ireland in that year’s Curtis Cup at St Andrews, winning her opening foursomes with fellow Scot Sally Watson against Mina Harigae and Jennie Lee and then halving with Lee in the singles, albeit in a 13-7 defeat. She turned professional the following season, but then quit to become a police officer.

Returned to the sport three years later and in 2017 was runner-up in the Hero Indian Open. Two years ago was part of the winning side at the Saudi Team International.
