Made her first LPGA Tour victory a huge one when she eagled the final hole of the 2014 AIG Women’s Open at Royal Birkdale and beat Suzann Petersen and Shanshan Feng by one.
Her three-wood approach of almost 240 yards nearly went in for an albatross, hitting the flagstick and finishing six feet away. After sinking the putt for what was her first eagle of the year Martin had to wait for an hour before her win was confirmed.
“I could hear it hit the pin from the fairway,” she said. “That was a pretty fun feeling. I think I still need to be pinched.” Two years later at Woburn she was joint runner-up three strokes behind Ariya Jutanugarn
