Sophia Schubert

Makes her AIG Women’s Open debut two weeks after a stunning performance at the Evian Championship in France. With a best finish of tied 58th in her four previous major appearances Schubert emerged as the biggest title threat to Brooke Henderson and would have been in a play-off but for the Canadian’s last-hole birdie.

Winner of the US Amateur title in 2017, she turned professional the following year after being part of the American Curtis Cup side which beat Britain and Ireland 17-3 at Quaker Ridge. Even at only 22 she was the oldest member of the team and won 2 ½ points from her three games.

Last year won the Carolina Classic on the Symetra Tour, but she went to the Evian not even in the top 280 on the Rolex Rankings and left it in 53rd place.
