So close to a first victory on the Ladies European Tour at the Centurion Club in St Albans in June. Captain of Team Wikstrom at the Aramco Series-London, she went into a play-off against opposite number Nicole Garcia, but lost at the first extra hole.

The 42-year-old turned professional back in 2003 and has also had runner-up finishes at the 2008 Finnair Masters, 2009 French Open, 2012 Turkish Airlines Open and twice at the Dutch Open.

She represented Finland on golf’s return to the Olympic Games in 2016 and fired a three under par 69 in Monday’s 18-hole qualifying tournament at North Berwick to earn her place this week.
