He has also driven company efforts to support outside causes, most notably, the AIG Women’s Open.
Zaffino is a supporter for women in golf, business and beyond. He has continually championed the AIG Women’s Open for its display of elite competition and its positive impact on women in sports and society at large.
Since AIG’s first year as title sponsor in 2019, Mr. Zaffino has continued to promote the championship — expanding its reach to an international audience to garner much-deserved attention for the prestigious event.
To further amplify women’s sports, he has also leveraged AIG’s sponsorship to increase the prize fund by more than 125%.
In 2023, Mr. Zaffino and The R&A CEO Martin Slumbers announced that AIG and The R&A extended their partnership through 2030. At the time of the announcement, Mr. Zaffino expressed AIG’s commitment to the championship, stating 'we are proud to be the title sponsor of the AIG Women’s Open' and reinforcing the company’s 'tremendous partnership with and respect for The R&A'.
Alongside efforts to shine a light on women’s golf, the AIG Women’s Open has also previously extended a hand to women in business.
In 2023, against the backdrop of the championship, Mr. Zaffino and AIG hosted a women’s leadership event that brought high-potential women insurance professionals together for career development and networking.
With more than 30 years of experience in financial services, Mr. Zaffino lends extensive knowledge of industry leadership and strategy to his current position at AIG.
He has served at the company since 2017, leading as chairman and CEO since 2021. Before joining AIG, Mr. Zaffino served as President and CEO of Marsh from 2011 to 2017. He held the same roles with Guy Carpenter from 2008 to 2011. Additionally, he is a member of the Geneva Association and Business Roundtable.
Mr. Zaffino also supports several philanthropic causes. He sits on the boards of the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
