Delamere Forest and Crail Golfing Society hosted qualifying events for the 2024 AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews.
Pre-Qualifying was played over 18 holes at Delamere Forest (above) in Cheshire on Sunday 28 July.
Final Qualifying took place at Crail Golfing Society in Fife on Monday 19 August when, after 18 holes over the Craighead Course, twelve golfers earned a place in the AIG Women’s Open which was staged between 21-25 August.
Delamere Forest, which was designed by Herbert Fowler, is a heathland course which features fast-running fairways with subtle yet challenging contouring and elevation changes. This was the first time the Cheshire course staged Pre-Qualifying for the AIG Women’s Open.
Also having played host for the first time was Crail Golfing Society. Designed by Gil Hanse, the Craighead Course is inspired by its clifftop environment and ancient medieval walls which creates a challenging and unique layout.
Zoe Ridgway, Championship Director – AIG Women’s Open at The R&A, said: “We would like to thank Delamere Forest and Crail Golfing Society for hosting qualifying events for the AIG Women’s Open.
“They are outstanding courses which are sure to test the players as they look to earn their way into the field at St Andrews for the AIG Women’s Open.”
