Shiho Kuwaki has joined first-round leader Jeeno Thitikul at the top of the leaderboard as round two gets under way at Royal Lytham & St Annes.

Shiho was one of the first out on Friday and she made hay, sinking three birdies – either side of two bogeys – to reach six-under for the Championship.

Jeeno carded a bogey-free record 64 to lead by two overnight, but dropped a shot at the 3rd on Friday to slip back.

Paula Martin Sampedro, who won the Smyth Salver 12 months ago, is containing her love affair with links golf, registering three three birdies on the front nine to move onto five under and into a tie for second with Korean star Haeran Ryu.

Celine Boutier – bogey-free in round one – and Yealimi Noh follow behind on four-under-par.
