Hyo Joo Kim broke the record for men’s and women’s majors when she began the 2014 Evian Championship in France with a staggering 10-under-par 61.
Nineteen at the time, and appearing in her first major, she suddenly found herself with a four-stroke lead over three-time AIG Women's Open winner Karrie Webb.
A day later she trailed by one and that was still the situation with a hole to play, but she then sank a 12-foot birdie putt while Webb bogeyed, allowing Kim to become the third-youngest player to win a women’s major.
Kim has won six more times on the LPGA Tour – most recently in the Ford Championship in March 2025 – while she lost a play-off to Ariya Jutanugarn at the US Women’s Open in 2018.
Kim defended her LET Aramco Korea Championship title in May 2025, holding off a Sunday charge from Chiara Tamburlini, for her second win of the year.
Her best performance in the AIG Women's Open came when she finished in a tie for fourth place at Walton Heath in 2023.
Boasting an exquisite short game, Kim topped the table for average putts per round on the LPGA Tour in 2025 (28.59), while only Maude-Aimee Leblanc gained more strokes around the green.
