Paula Martin Sampedro

Paula Martin-Sampedro

Paula Martin Sampedro won the Smyth Salver at Royal Porthcawl in 2025.

The Spaniard was the lowest amateur in the AIG Women's Open field, finishing in a tie for eighth place on four-under-par.

This finish was in no small part helped by five straight final-round birdies from 11th, for what turned out to be the lowest back nine of the week (30).

She qualified for Royal Porthcawl by winning The Women’s Amateur Championship in June.

The Madrid native defeated American Farah O'Keefe 2&1 in the 36-hole match play final at Nairn in Scotland.

In doing so Paula joined the likes of Carlota Ciganda as the sixth Spanish Women’s Amateur Champion.

This victory allowed Paula to climb five places to seventh in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

In her first season at Stanford University, she earned 2024 First Team All-America honours with nine top-seven finishes and helped her team win the NCAA Division.
