The AIG Women's Open will take place at St Andrews – the home of golf – between 21-25 August 2024.

It will be the third time the iconic Old Course will have staged the prestigious Championship.

American Stacy Lewis was the victor in 2013, closing with back-to-back birdies to register an unassailable clubhouse lead of eight-under-par.

She said: “I love this golf course more than any other links course I’ve played.

“I think it’s more the history of it than anything, just knowing all the great champions have played here. Golf was started here.”

Lorena Ochoa was the first player to win the Championship at St Andrews in 2007.

The Mexican star led from the ninth hole of the opening round, eventually finishing four shots clear of the chasing pack on five-under-par.

Nineteen different venues have hosted the AIG Women’s Open since its inception in 1976 but perhaps none more revered than the famed links at St Andrews.
